Michigan Reproductive Medicine provides women and men the opportunity to preserve their fertility and future hopes of having children by freezing their eggs, sperm or embryos for future conception. Storing frozen gametes and embryos is referred to as Egg Freezing, Sperm Banking and Embryo Banking.

Michigan Reproductive Medicine and our Michigan Egg Bank are nationally recognized leaders in fertility preservation with the proven egg freezing technology of vitrification. The first baby ever born in Michigan from a frozen egg was conceived here at MRM.
As a consumer of healthcare, with interest in preserving your fertility, it is not enough to ask if a clinic can freeze your eggs. It’s most important to ask if the clinic has patients who have healthy babies born through their efforts of egg freezing. Michigan Reproductive Medicine is the only center in Michigan with whom women consistently have babies through egg freezing to prove it! Michigan Reproductive Medicine is responsible for the first baby ever born in Michigan from a previously cryopreserved (frozen) egg; he was born on July 23, 2010. Hundreds of babies have been born from our frozen eggs since then.
Reasons for fertility preservation by egg freezing include:
- Personal Egg Freezing: a woman’s choice to defer family planning to a later age (considered to be insurance against decline in fertility due to aging).
- Oncofertility: Fertility preservation by freezing eggs prior to cancer related therapies.
- Frozen Donor Egg IVF through our Michigan Egg Bank: half the cost of fresh egg donation, immediate access to donor eggs and an equal chance of a successful pregnancy compared to fresh egg donation.
- Avoid IVF ethical challenges when creating more Embryos than needed. Just freeze the extra eggs for future use or disposal without concern about excess embryos.
Michigan Reproductive Medicine’s Fertility Preservation Program is one of a handful of reproductive medicine centers around the country in the National Physician’s Cooperative (NPC) and the Oncofertility Consortium, which is a national, interdisciplinary initiative designed to secure the reproductive future of cancer survivors through applied scientific research. The motto is “From bench to bedside”. Patients with cancer and other serious diseases whose progression or treatment is likely to impair fertility can receive access to the most up-to-date treatments and clinical research at NPC member sites.
